Store Outlook files on a CD-RW

Can you advise me how to read Outlook Express messages stored on backup media, such as a CD-RW, to minimise the amount of data held on my hard disk? There is no file type for the folders in which Outlook Express holds messages, although as far as I can tell, Msimn is the application used for opening individual messages.

Outlook Express folders are a type of database file and can't be opened individually. All these database files must be stored in one folder. You can change the location of this folder by clicking on the Tools menu, clicking on Options and then the Maintenance tab, and finally choosing the Store folder option.

A dialog box will open showing the name of the folder that Outlook Express is currently using. You can click the Change button to alter this so that your messages are stored in a different location, but this is intended as a one-off configuration alteration rather than a facility for frequent use.

A solution might be to change your message store location to a folder on a hard disk that has more free space. However, CD-RW is a slow and not very reliable medium, so we wouldn't recommend keeping all your messages on a rewritable CD.
